The acquisition of Van den Anker had enabled Imperial to continue its process of internationalisation in chemical logistics and gain access to a network of distributors, which extends throughout the Benelux countries and into the neighbouring regions of northern France and Germany. The acquired network includes four dangerous goods warehouses with total storage capacity for approx. 100,000 pallets. Three of the warehouses are located in the Netherlands (Roosendaal I and II and at Son near Eindhoven) and one in Wetteren near Gent, Belgium. Since the takeover, Imperial has been able to offer storage facilities for almost every class of hazardous goods in the Benelux region.
Those customers, for which proximity to the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp is vitally important, particularly benefit from the new business location in Roosendaal. In addition to the current storage facility at the port of Rotterdam, Imperial now has further pallet storage spaces for packaged chemicals at its new business site 50 km away; this is ideal for overseas imports and exports of hazardous goods.
The takeover also meant the addition of a fleet of distribution vehicles, which enable next-day deliveries of packaged hazardous goods like pesticides, cleaning agents, paints and lubricants in the hub and spoke system. Additional services like labelling, repackaging, constructing display stands, unloading IBCs at customer premises or returning packaging materials are all part of the daily operations – supported by innovative IT solutions, which are part of the package too.
